Neuromuscular Physical Therapist
The Neuromuscular Physical Therapist is responsible for participating in the development of and carrying out cutting-edge clinical research protocols for neuromuscular diseases, included muscular dystrophies, spinal muscular atrophy, and other disorders. As part of this research role, the therapist will participate in the analysis of data related to the progression and natural history of diseases, and take part in the dissemination of study results. In addition to this research role, the therapist will take part in evaluating pediatric and select adult patients for physical therapy; administering treatment; fabricating or recommending adaptive equipment and splints; documenting evaluation results or patient progress; and providing patient and family education. Demonstrates competence defined (*) in Staff Physical Therapist responsibilities in providing age-appropriate care and services to patients from the age of birth to 21 years, and selected adult patients.
The Physical Therapists supports, communicates, implements and enforces the philosophy, mission, values, standards, policies and procedures of Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
This position requires candidates to have a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy and State of Ohio licensure. Previous physical therapy work experience in a pediatric setting preferred or clinical affiliation in the area of pediatrics. CPR certification must be received no later than 60 days post hire or 60 days post expiration.
